Markaz sponsors International Day for People with Disability

Kuwait Financial Centre “Markaz” is sponsoring the conference and celebration marking the International Day for People with Disability. The event is organized by Training Gate International, which is a non-profit organization that aims to improve the living standards for people with disability and their families.

Ms. Basma Ghareeb, Vice President - Media & Communications at Markaz, said “Markaz is keen on supporting societal activities that aims to add value to the Kuwaiti society, especially those organized by civil society organizations geared to serve the society and humanity at large. This sponsorship is part of Markaz’s corporate social responsibility program which includes several initiatives related to education, health and sustainable economic development in general.”

Ms. Ghareeb added “According to international statistic, the average rate of people with disability is 10% for each country. Therefore, the public and private sectors should join efforts in supporting specialized civil society organization to activate the role of people with disability and allow them to contribute to the development of the society by providing them with appropriate training and developing their skills.”

The event’s program includes several discussions with public officials regarding health, education and housing, in addition to 40 workshops led by international experts. Several institutions from the public and private sectors participated in the event side by side with civil society organizations and Kuwait University.
