Markaz is a Gold Sponsor of (Maker Faire Kuwait 2018)

Kuwait Financial Centre “Markaz” participated as a gold sponsor in (Maker Faire Kuwait 2018), organized by Kuwait Investment Company under the patronage of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh  Sabah Al-Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, from 6-10 February at Kuwait International Fair Ground. Markaz also sponsored one of the technical crafts workshops for 3D Printing. Markaz sponsorship reflects it belief in the importance of building human capabilities as part of its corporate social responsibility strategy as well as enabling the young “makers” to develop their handmade crafts and innovative ideas to serve the society.

Mr. Alrazi Y. Al-Budaiwi, VP and Head of Media and Communications at Markaz said, “Markaz believed that the youths are the foundation of building societies and with their creations and innovations, we can achieve sustainability and social development. Therefore, Markaz is committed to support such activities that invest in growing the capabilities of Kuwaiti youths and enabling them to implement their innovative ideas, especially in the field of industries, which needs both encouragement and care to achieve economic diversification for Kuwait on the long run.”

Mr. Al-Budaiwi added, "This sponsorship comes as part of “Markaz” corporate social responsibility strategy that aims at fulfilling the company’s CSR responsibilities through three main pillars, which are a) building human capabilities, b) aligning our business environment with the principles of sustainable development, and c) promoting good governance in the business environment. Our activities within this strategy includes a variety of topics that target achieving sustainability, including the development of the capacities of young people and enabling them to utilize their abilities towards achieving a sustainable future."

It is worth mentioning that Kuwait Investment Company is organizing the (Maker Faire Kuwait) for the second year in a row after having obtained a license from the parent exhibition. The event will hold around 80 participants from Kuwait and the Arab region with innovative creations in different fields combining modern technology with manual crafts. A specialized committee will evaluate the innovative creations to select 20 projects by the end of the exhibition.
