The Monday of December 21 (2015) provided another significant milestone in the ongoing saga of oil price volatility. Brent crude oil prices fell to $36.05 a barrel, the weakest since July 2004, and surpassing even the low of $36.20 on December 24, 2008.

The Paris Climate Agreement and Implications for the GCC

On December 12, 2015, the Paris Conference on Climate Change adopted the Paris Agreement and associated decisions. Many have hailed it as a historic occasion in the international campaign for combatting climate change. The deal is a significant forward step towards reducing emissions. This is because for the first time in the history of climate change measures, 196 countries (including the largest emitters), have committed to work together to fight climate change and enshrine some form of accountability in light of that purpose.
